The Genesis of The Kind Favor

Kate’s journey to founding The Kind Favor began with a simple yet profound realization: small acts of kindness have the power to transform lives (her life motto is: Love Is Action, a saying she adapted from a dear friend's father). Whether it’s a smile, a helping hand, or a thoughtful gesture, these moments of kindness and generosity can brighten someone’s day and create a sense of community in our increasingly busy and sometimes disconnected world.

Prior to founding The Kind Favor, Kate was CEO of the Synopsys Outreach Foundation and the global head of Volunteering & Employee Giving at Visa. The idea for The Kind Favor was born when Kate trying to incorporate giving back into each aspect of her wedding planning process. She thought it would be interesting and innovative if her guests could choose their own favor (as to eliminate favors that get thrown away or left at the end of the night) and wanted to source them from women-owned small businesses that she knew were doing good for the world.

After having her second baby (in two years!) Kate spent six months interviewing event planners around the US and was able to further define the ultimate idea for The Kind Favor - a site where hosts could feel good about their favor purchase and/or give their guests the ability to choose their own favor (or donate to a nonprofit of the host's choice). She spent two years building the site (and her team!) and is proud to be live today to serve generous hosts all over the US.
